Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement, is one of Israels most significant holidays. Usually occurring in early October or end of September, Yom Kippur is the most solemn day of the year for the Jewish people, occurring right after Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. Jews fast, wear white clothing, avoid leather football and stay away from any pleasures, including showering, brushing teeth, television, driving, and so forth. This is an extremely religious holiday. During this time, they ask for forgiveness for all the wrongs they have done in the previous year.
